A big Saturday night in Sydney.
Road closures and traffic restrictions for the annual
Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Ugly building.
323 Castlereagh Street, Sydney. It's the home of the Office of the Protective Commissioner and a number of other public service departments.

Major job.
Sitting in front of the home theatre PC carefully migrating all 600-odd of my DVDs into the right format for
My Movies to manage because of it's brilliant integration into Windows Media Centre.
After manually entering the first 20-odd titles, I realised I was never going to get through the job unless I let the application help me. So, I pointed the software at the movie directory on the NAS and crossed my fingers.
Unfortunately, the query algorithm they're using to lookup and download the movie information from the server is a bit crook. EVERYTHING with a "the" in the title was identified as "The Making of the Ten Commandments". Similarly, anything with the string "arn" in it became "Barnyard".
Now I have some 251 titles to fix. Errrgh!

Slowly passing away.
This monthly computer fair used to be THE place for geeks to pick up their geeky wares. The combination of crowd brush and poor hygiene made it almost impossible to breathe. These days the place is basically a ghost town.

How dodgy!
The worst looking plastic fruit I have ever seen (they are almost fluoro) at this "liquidation centre" on Botany Road, Alexandria.
The place is full of cheap and nasty imported furniture/homewares.

Running repairs.
The DVD drive in the home theatre PC has an intermittent playback fault that's been giving us the shits since the day I put it together. Finally getting around to replacing the drive this evening.

Opinions/tech advice needed.
It's been a long time since I upgraded a PC. All this new-fangled dual/quad core CPU; PCI-E; and 800MHz/1066MHz RAM stuff has me a bit miffed. I *thin* the following should all work together. Just need a video card then, I guess.
Will be transplanting the PSU, HDDs etc from the old box.

Rear-ended.
(No, this is NOTHING to do with the Mardi Gras!)
Heading to work, I'd just turned off the M4 motorway onto Reservoir Road. As always, I check and triple check for vehicles which tend to hoon through this T intersection.
What I wasn't prepared for was the boy-racer behind me in his pretty Nissan 200SX. He decide to "go" when I had my foot firmly planted on the brakes.
Ford Focus and towbar = 1
200SX and lots of fibreglass = 0
As an aside, the young fellow stated that he only got the car back from the panel shop last week as it had been in for repairs following the big hail storm which hit western Sydney.

Sorry, Cadbury.
But your "Lemon Cheesecake" variety from the desserts range is bloody horrible.

Delivery from Tamworth.
I don't think it contains country music CDs.
UPDATE: Thanks for the remote, Bacco!

A long trip to work today.
Traffic galore on Reservoir Road due to an eastbound accident on the M4 which has pushed additional traffic towards the Great Western Highway as they look for an alternative route.

This could be a long day.
Special forum at work today. Lots of "heavy" subjects to deal with.

Give me strength.
This forum is testing my powers of concentration.

Choices.
Paint, paint and more paint.

Weekend project.
This is a BBQ condiments caddy (standing on one of its ends). It was made by my step-father from old hardwood fence pailings. It's great to be able to stash away all the sauces, mustards, chutneys, salt/pepper etc in one go.
Today it's getting a striking colour scheme - "vivid orange" and "grapeshot purple" and the addition of some little rubber feet.
Sun 9 Mar, 2008 - 11:05:08 AM
Tempted.
$799.00 reduced to $499.00. Not the prettiest BBQ in the store BUT it has two stainless steel grills. The last time I looked for a stainless steel grill insert to replace the cast iron one in our current BBQ, the asking price was a shade under $200.
I might sleep on it.

Kudos to to brave.
As I was taking out my contact lenses I got to thinking about the first person to stick a crudely-constructed glass
contact lens in his/her eye. Shudder.
