this is how i let everyone else in the sandwich line know that i am a bonafide tool.

oh paris. we didn't really know where we were, but we heard music, saw flashing lights, and a fence that really couldn't stop us. it was that darned labyrinthine bush maze that had to stop us. it took us a good half hour to find our way out. and that, that's ben, in usual form.

buddha bar totally sucked. and i'm not nearly as drunk as may look. at £11 a drink, i really can't be. i swear mom--and i'm just holding that cigarette for a friend, really.

here i am at jim morrison's grave in paris. really i am crying on the inside. i'm just too vain not to pose for the picture. so don't be fooled by my vanity, it's truely tragic that i am that close to his body and he's too dead to notice me.

i had to take a picture to send my parents so they can see what their money is paying for. it's really pretty with the sun shining on my street. usually it's cloudy and there are some fine prostitutes to choose from, god bless them. and the crack-dealers, it's their low season, so i'm sure you can get a really good deal. but too bad it's a sunny morning and you can't really see all that my street has to offer. maybe next time

this is about two years old, also from the make up book, i think it's actually the same girl. i did this on a friday evening before going out. for no particular deadline either, i don't think. i remember my room mate was pissing me off though. she would talk a lot, like all the time. it kind off got on my nerves. listening, or rather pretending to listen, is hard work. and you can't exactly tell someone to shut up simply because you want to be left alone with your thoughts. you kinda have to start doing something that requires silence. sometimes i would just pick up books and hold them in front of me as if i were reading to get her to stop talking to me. that night i decided to paint. before attending to my standard friday night duties.

yeah, i was out of canvas, late at night, art store was closed, critique was 5 hours away.

i did this about two and a half years ago. magic markers are fun, but this is my only work with them.

this is the university of virginia. it's actually the The Lawn, Jefferson's claim to architectural fame, and streaking territory for the student body, pun intended. this is what it looks like when it snows, snowballs. it's from a photo that a friend took. the snow flakes picked up the flash of the camera in the night making them look really big. i really liked the picture. i figured it was about time i did a landscape, it's good to have around when people get on my case for only doing faces. i like faces. my step-bro wants to give me $250 dollars for it. i guess landscapes are more marketable.

i couldn't have put more than an hour into this. it was done in the frenzy of finals when i was doing about two paintings a night to make up for my lack of everything during the semester. i like it that way. it's acrylic, inspired by an ad. amber something is her name. she's cold, distant, and vacuous; therefore beautiful.

this is the one of my last paintings, about a year old. i spent over a week with it and got really tired of it. it's from a picture in a make-up book. how trite, i know. i couldn't get the reflection right which really pissed me off. i was giving up, i got mad and dropped the painting and the picture on the ground. the picture landed perfectly in the corner covering the botched reflection. i liked it, i like it a lot, so i taped the picture to it. my professor totally ate it up

this is the wall of this uber-cool shoe store across the street. i mean, the whole place was like this, like they locked some sort of maniac with "turrets of the hand" in there with a weeks supply of markers and no paper. the salesman got totally mad at me for taking the picture. he told me to stop and that i wasn't allowed to take pictures up there cause the shoes were protected or something. he was your typical art school drop-out, and his shoes were ugly. but i guess he could have been a nice guy.

yeah, you can just tilt your head for this one. this was a poster at the grocery store. although i'd have a lot more to say about if i actually was that close to his face while he enjoyed that delicious delight, what ever it is. he seems to really enjoy it though. but still, altogether a bit creepy.

Ways to Make People Uncomfortable #436: go to the grocery store and stand above them taking there picture, while they savagely check out the sea salt supply.
they were the wierd ones though, i swear....i mean, what are they gonna do with all that sea salt? seriously

this building would look a lot cooler if i knew how to transfer the modifications that i made to it. imagine it to be vertical, brighter, with more flowers, and butterflies flying around, and also a kitten behind one of the windows, a cute one.
